In DEADLYWOOD today and for the second time, my little loved sister from hell, Blanca Ninwen. As you may have noticed, she is one of the four girls featured twice in this photographic trip, giving an idea of how important this ‘tiny one’ is for me.
This pic was taken one day after the other pic shown in DEADLYWOOD, August 8th of 2011 to be precise, a day which will remain in our minds forever and which made our friendship even stronger than it used to be.
After the highly improvised photo shoot of the day before with concert and party night included , plans for the next day were: beach in the morning and shooting in the afternoon. We had too many ideas in mind, so taking advantage of the sensuality and attractive which Blanquita exhales, we decided to work on something really fetishistic…
With Pepsi’s “Generation NExt” playing at Blanca‘s request (old times!) and alternating with Lady Gaga’s “Born this way” we spent an afternoon where we set everything upside down in order to work as we wanted. We moved furniture, beds, shelves, mirrors… let’s say we raised some hell.
We took too many pics, and very different ones: jumping on the bed with a cushion, super sensual ones surrounded by mirrors, on the balcony and even quite a few in the street to put an end to the party just before the little devil got tired and said: NO MORE.
This pic can result quite typical: pretty lady on a balcony… something that has already been done infinite times before, but that I really felt like doing. It was originally one of the pics Marisel and I had thought in Athens, but as we didn’t find the location, so it remained kept written on my photographic list of pics to shoot.
Pic was taken just after the “Blanca jumps on the beeeeeeeeeeeeeed!” series, LOL. I explained what I was looking for and my evil lady broke posing in a million different ways in a very natural style. I took, I don’ t know, probably around 60 pics… everyone was better than the previous one, and I was hallucinating because the results were real works of art. I was really sad to stop shooting , but I just needed a pic.
In fact, as a funny thing, and while Blanca was on holiday without her laptop in Málaga, I had to send a selection of 35 pics to her cell phone so she could choose her favourite, which is the one featured in DEADLYWOOD. If there’s something this precious always does is to analyze every little detail in the pics which are going to be published.
Everything ok so far… crazy shoot, exhausting and with nice results… so after working, resting and partying come next, of course returning all the stuff to the initial condition (well, more or less…). It was a coincidende one of her friends from Madrid was on holiday in Coruña with his girlffriend, so Coruña there we go! Blanca cooked some tasty super sandwiches for dinner, we took my car and… we never made it to that appointment.
A few minutes to midnight we had a frontal collision with a BMW at Espíritu Santo smashing my car… After the initial nervousnes and after having checked no one had suffered serious injuries, we had to spent some time with the police, with the ambulance guys, etc… people I will always be grateful to. Our crazy night had just begun, because we went straight to the Juan Canalejo hospital, where not less than 7 hours in the hospital emergency room were awaiting for us… Fortunately we weren’t injured in a serious way, good proofs are the improvised mini photo shoot I organised to “Wheelchar Ninwen” to the surprise of everyone there. That’s the way we are, little monkeys even during limit situations…
No need to say that experience, the joy of not having been hurt and all those intense moments we shared made of Blanca and I something else than just brothers.
Around 7:30 in the morning a taxi drove us home, closing the beautiful chapter of our holidays… Our plan of “we’ll shoot again tomorrow” never happened because I had lost my car and there was not any human way of going to Sada to shoot and to say one last goodbye to my little devil.
Stories apart, time to talk about the processing. After having corrected the distortion caused by the lens in the original pic, I considered the pic was so fucking awesome that I thought of not doing anything else to it. But maybe the “Photoshopeic” culture we had tattooed in mind told me: “Álex… it is not possible this pic is perfect without having anything done”. So I started to play with the curves and I gave it some kind of “vintage” stlye with a crossed processing. My initial idea was to take a black and white picture, in fact that version also exists… but when the moment came to choose which one to include in DEADLYWOOD, my teacher Rocío Brage said it would be a pity to lose al the nice colours of the colour version.
Not much more for today, just telling Blanquita that I really love her, that she is a real sweetheart as a girl / friend / model / partner in crime and evil mistress and that, of course, I can’t wait to meet her again. I looooooooove you forever my little evil shark… thanks a lot for having shared those intense moments and for having given me all those works of art you created for me.

Hoy de nuevo en DEADLYWOOD, y por segunda vez, mi queridísima hermanita del mal, Blanca Ninwen. Como ya sabréis, una de las cuatro niñas que aparecen por partida doble en este viaje fotográfico, dando una pequeña idea de lo importante que es esta “pequeñina” para mí.
Esta foto fue tomada un día después de la otra que aparece en DEADLYWOOD, concretamente el ocho de agosto del 2011, una fecha que se nos quedará grabada para siempre y que terminó por unirnos todavía mucho más.
Tras la improvisada tarde fotográfica del día anterior con concierto y salida nocturna incluida, el día siguiente tocaba mañana de playa y tarde de sesión. Había muchas ideas en mente y aprovechando toda esa sensualidad y atractivo que desprende Blanquita cada vez que respira, nos decidimos poner a trabajar en algo fetichista…
Con el “Generation NExt” de Pepsi sonando por petición de Blanca (que tiempos!) y alternando con el “Born this way” de Lady Gaga nos pasamos una tarde en la que pusimos patas arriba toooooooooda su casa para poder trabajar a gusto. Movimos muebles, camas, armarios, espejos… vamos, la montamos bien gorda.
Hicimos bastantes fotos y muy diferentes, desde saltando en cama con cojines, súper sensuales rodeada de espejos, en el balcón e incluso algunas en la calle como fin de fiesta antes de que la pequeña diablilla se me cansase y me dijese: NO MÁS.
La foto que veis es una foto que puede resultar bastante típica: foto de niña guapa en balcón… algo que se ha hecho infinidad de veces, pero que aún así , yo tenía muchas ganas de hacer. Originalmente era una de las fotos que habíamos pensado Marisel y yo en Atenas, pero como no localizamos el sitio, pues se me quedó grabada en mi memoria fotográfica.
La foto se tomó justo después de la serie “Blanca salta en la caaaaaaama!”, ja, ja, ja… Le expliqué un poco lo que quería, que era básicamente una foto de ella de espaldas a mí en el balcón y la señorita de mis maldades empezó a posar de mil formas distintas con toda naturalidad. Hicimos, no sé, alrededor de 60 fotos… a cada cual mejor, y yo alucinaba porque estaban saliendo auténticas obras de arte. De verdad me daba pena parar, pero realmente, solo buscaba una foto.
De hecho, como anécdota, y mientras Blanca estaba de vacaciones en Málaga, sin ordenador, le tuve que enviar al móvil una selección de unas 35 fotos del balcón para que ella escogiese la que más le gustaba, que no es otra que la que aparece en DEADLYWOOD. Si algo tiene esta preciosidad es que estudia hasta el último detalle en cada foto que se va a publicar de ella.
Hasta aquí todo en orden, sesión alocada, agotadora y fructífera… y después de trabajar toca descansar y disfrutar, no sin antes devolver la casa a su estado “inicial” (bueno, más o menos…). Se dio la casualidad que amigo suyo de Madrid al que hacía tiempo que no veía estaba de vacaciones en Coruña con su novia, así que a Coruña nos vamos! Blanca preparó rápidamente unos súper sándwiches riquísimos para la cenita, cogimos el coche y… nunca llegamos a esa cita.
Un poco antes de las doce de la noche nos empotrábamos de frente con un BMW a la altura del Espíritu Santo destrozando mi coche… Después del nerviosismo inicial y de comprobar que ninguna de las personas implicadas había sufrido daños importantes, tocó pasar un tiempito con la guardia civil, con la gente del 061, con la grúa…. gente a la cual agradezco desde aquí su atención. La noche acababa de empezar, porque de allí nos fuimos directos al Juan Canalejo, donde nos aguardaban nada más ni nada menos que siete horas en urgencias… Afortunadamente no sufrimos daños de gravedad, prueba de ello fue la mini sesión improvisada de fotos que le hice a “Wheelchar Ninwen” ante la cara de estupefacción de los allí presentes. Así somos, payasetes hasta en situaciones límite…
Sin duda esa experiencia, la alegría de haber salido ilesos y todos esos momentos tan intensos que compartimos hizo de Blanca y de mí, algo más que hermanos.
Casi a las 7 y 30 de la mañana un taxista nos devolvía a cada uno a nuestra casita y se terminaban nuestras vacaciones… El plan de “mañana hacemos más fotos” ya no se pudo llevar a cabo al quedarme sin medio de transporte y no tener forma humana de ir a Sada a hacer fotos o al menos a despedirme de mi diablilla.
Anécdotas aparte, tiempo para hablaros del procesado. Tras corregir un poco las distorsiones de la lente de la foto original, me parecía tan sumamente buena y bonita, que pensé en no hacerle nada más. Pero tal vez la cultura “Photoshopeica” que tenemos tatuada en el cerebro me dijo “Álex… no puede ser que esta foto ya esté bien sin hacerle nada”. Y así fue… Jugando un poco con curvas… decidí darle un aspecto “vintage” con un revelado cruzado. Y así quedó. Realmente mi idea era de foto en blanco y negro, de hecho existe esa versión también… pero a la hora de escoger cual colgaría en DEADLYWOOD, mi profe Rocío Brage me dijo que era una pena perder toda la gama cromática de la versión en color.
Por hoy, poco más, simplemente decirle a Blanquita que la quiero sobre todas las cosas, que es un auténtico amor como niña / amiga / modelo / cómplice y malévola y que me tarda muchísimo verla de nuevo. Te quiero muchísimo tiburoooooooona de la maldad… muchas gracias por haber compartido conmigo esos momentos tan intensos y por haberme regalado todas las obras de arte que has creado para mí.

And today, from DEADLYWOOD, and aimed at making our life happier, the very best present: María Montero!!!
María is one of the biggest loves I have ever met in my photographic trip… Not only she is and human being whose appearance, beauty and attitude really impress, but also she is (even thought she tries to deny it) the Spanish Bettie Page. I came to her thanks to some fantastic pics my evil partner in crime and exceptional friend Jose Cepas (who has the same taste than me when it comes to recruit models) took her. 99% Of the times, everytime we comment stuff like ‘you gotta take some pics to…’ the convertation continues like ‘yeeeeeeeeeees, I had already set my sight on her!’ . So, it was exactly the same with María, only that he was faster.
However, this pic belongs to a photo shoot I had planned with my beloved and amazing photographer Bella Dianez, known as Berkanna. I contributed with the models, Sandra Borrego and María Montero and she contributed with the location, Puente Alcocer.
The main concept was to create a very fetishistic shoot in some kind of abandoned industrial building… but as shit always happens, and even though we had seen pics in internet and said yes to the place, when we got there (a place in the middle of nowhere) we were shocked to see the place was being rebuilt. We had lost our location. We even behaved like civilized people and asked for permission to a security guard, but he said NO. Photographers are dangerous guys… we shoot with our cameras… so no pictures allowed there.
Situation: Almost 17:00 hours, completely loaded with our stuff, two models yet to be made up… and no location. We didn’t have too much time, especially because in just a couple of hours there wouldn’t be any light at all… so we decided to start working, however.
We stayed there, trying to take advantage of the very few useful things we had, which were basically reduced to a wall with graffittis, a crappy path and some mounds. The ladies got made up (they had to get dressed – I’d better say get undressed- in the middle of nowhere) and we began to shoot. Everything more or less ‘normal’ so far… a turbulent shoot which turned out to be highly improvised. The real fun was when we noticed how some ‘curious’ people began to wander around there: we were shooting in a junkie camp!!!. They were very respectful staring at the way we shot the girls. It was very funny for me to see a girl who was telling her boyfriend (I guess) off just because he was looking at María: ‘mooooooooooooooooooooooooove!!!’ Always funny stuff happening to me…
Our faces were a combination of astonishment, of fear, of thinking ‘what the hell are we doing here???’ and if that was not enough, and even we had the situation under control … it was getting dark. So we decided to leave the place… Well, it was some kind of unanimous decision, except for me who wanted to stay there taking more pictures. We said goodbye to “junkieland”, but while we were waiting to be picked by the car to head the train station, we had the chance of seeing how some “patatuning local rednecks” tried to impress my girls by spinning their ‘last model’ autos in front of them… So, if you ever want to travel to another galaxy without spending too much money, Puente Alcocer is the place.
Talking about María‘s picture, and having been so lucky of having her in such a BRUTAL outfit, I wanted to do something in the same style than my adored Steve Diet Goedde‘s. GORGEOUS girl, KILLER outfit and DEADLY pose. We only took a few pictures in this session… I don’t think I took more than 30 to every girl… and in the middle of them I found this preciousness. One of the 5 fav pics I’ve ever taken, and of a girl who I really love. I say the same everyday I write in DEADLYWOOD, but the fact is that everyone of the nineteen girls selected are very special for me. That’s why I like to show them to you and to brag in a good way.
Processing: I think the original pic was already a very good one. But thinking of the way my loved Steve‘s pics look like, I chose a crossed processing which gave the pic a more “vintage” style. I also prepared the black and white version that I sent to Steve saying “look… a pic like yours!!!!” . To whom he kindly replied… “Very good one Álex… but don’t forget my pics aren’t so contrasted… lol!… ja ja ja”.
From DEADLYWOOD, the biggest of my hugs, kisses and affection to María… a girl who bursts with her attractive, presence, beauty throughout everyone of the pores of her skin. Loooooooooooove you a lot Meeeeeery… but don’t forget you still owe me your boots.

Y hoy, desde DEADLYWOOD, para alegrarnos el día, el mejor regalito: María Montero!!!
María es otro de los grandes amores que me he encontrado en mi viaje fotográfico… No solo es una persona cuyo aspecto, belleza y actitud impresionan, sino que es (aunque ella se empeñe en negármelo) la Bettie Page española. La conocí gracias a unas fotos fantásticas que le hizo Jose Cepas, un fotógrafo y amigo excepcional, que tiene exactamente el mismo gusto que yo para reclutar modelos. En el 99% de los casos, siempre que hablamos de una modelo en plan “tienes que hacerle fotos a…” al final la respuesta siempre es “yaaa, ya me había fijado!” Pues con María sucedió lo mismo, solo que él llegó primero.
Esta foto, sin embargo pertenece a una sesión conjunta que había planeado en Madrid con mi queridísima y gran fotógrafa Bella Dianez, conocida como Berkanna. Yo ponía las modelos, Sandra Borrego y María Montero y ella ponía la localización, Puente Alcocer.
La idea inicial era hacer una sesión muy fetish en una especie de edificio / nave abandonada en dicho lugar… pero como las cosas se suelen torcer, y aun a pesar de haber visto fotos en internet del lugar y haber dado el visto bueno a la localización, al llegar allí (un sitio en el medio de la nada) nos levamos la sorpresa de que estaba siendo rehabilitada. Nos habíamos quedado sin localización. Incluso, como personas buena y civilizadas, pedimos permiso a un guardia de seguridad, pero NO. Los fotógrafos somos gente peligrosa… disparamos con nuestras cámaras… así que nada de fotos allí.
Escenario: Casi las 5 de la tarde, cargados con nuestros petates, dos modelos todavía por maquillar… y sin localización. No nos sobraba el tiempo, sobre todo porque en un par de horas, ya no tendríamos luz… con lo cual decidimos trabajar, fuese como fuese.
Así que nos quedamos con lo poco aprovechable que había allí, que era un muro de bloque con graffitis, un caminacho de mala muerte y unos montones de tierra. Se maquilló a las niñas (que se tuvieron que vestir, desvestir mejor dicho, en el medio de la nada) y nos pusimos a trabajar con lo poquito que allí teníamos. Hasta aquí, todo más o menos “normal”… una sesión accidentada que acaba convirtiéndose en improvisada. Lo realmente divertido fue ver como empezaba a desfilar personal por allí: estábamos en medio de un poblado de yonkis que muy respetuosamente se pusieron a mirar la sesión y a deambular. Me hizo mucha gracia una chica que le reñía a su compañero (supongo) por ponerse a mirar para María “pasapalaaaaaaaaaaaaaante!!!”. Lo que no me pase a mí…
Nuestras caras eran una mezcla de asombro, miedo, pensamiento de “qué demonios hacemos aquí???” y aun encima por si fuera poco, aunque teníamos la situación controlada… estaba empezando a anochecer. Con lo cual decidimos escapar de allí… Bueno, realmente fue una especie de decisión unánime en la que el único que quería seguir haciendo fotos era yo. Abandonamos “yonkiland”, pero mientras esperábamos a que viniesen a recogernos en coche para llevarnos a la estación de tren, tuvimos la ocasión de ver como los “patatuning lugareños” trataban de impresionar a mis chicas haciendo trompos con sus coches último modelo… En fin, si algún día queréis viajar a otra dimensión si gastar mucho dinero, Puente Alcocer es vuestro destino.
Hablando de la foto en cuestión de María y en vista del look tan BRUTAL que traía, quise hacer algo similar a lo que hace mi admiradísimo Steve Diet Goedde. Chica BRUTAL, con estilismo BRUTAL y pose BRUTAL. Hicimos muy poquitas fotos en la sesión… no creo que llegase ni a 30 por chica… pero en medio de ellas estaba esta preciosidad. Una de mis 5 fotos favoritas de todas las que he hecho, y aun encima a una niña que quiero muchísimo. Todos los días os digo lo mismo en DEADLYWOOD, pero es que todas y cada una de las diecinueve niñas seleccionadas son altamente especiales para mí. De ahí que quiera enseñároslas y presumir sanamente de ellas.
En el aspecto procesado… la foto original ya me parecía muy buena. Pero basándome un poco en la estética de las fotos de mi queridísimo Steve, tan setenteras a veces, opté por un revelado cruzado que le aportase a la toma un aspecto mucho más “vintage”. Hice también la correspondiente versión en blanco y negro, que me encanta y que envié a Steve diciéndole “mira… una foto como las tuyas!!!!” A lo que él me respondió… “Muy bien Álex… aunque no te olvides de que mis fotos no están tan contrastadas… ja ja ja”.
Desde DEADLYWOOD, el mayor de mis abrazos, besos y cariños para María… una niña que rebosa atractivo, presencia y belleza por cada uno de los poros de su piel. Te quiero muchiiiiiiiisimo Meeeeeery… pero te recuerda que todavía me debes tus botas.

Bibiana Atada is the girl featured in today´s chapter of WISHLYWOOD, as you know, DEADLYWOOD´s place where all those women I wish to shoot someday are kept. But Bibiana is not a dream, she´s a beautiful gift of life that destiny decided to get on my way one day.
Bibiana is the most beautiful and amazing lady I´ve happened to meet lately. For those who don´t know her yet (are you joking???), not only she´s European #1 fetish model of the moment, but also my lovely and beautiful Spanish sister. Good looking, gorgeous, inked, sexy, wild, crazy, funny and with a heart that shines even 1 million times brighter than her body. A real evil angel.
So, she deserved her place in WISHLYWOOD. But not for the dream of shooting her that is a reality (pics coming sooooon!), the real dream is to have her by my side lightning my way.

Bibiana Atada el la protagonista del capítulo de hoy de WISHLYWOOD, como sabéis, ese lugar de DEADLYWOOD donde están recluidas todas esas chicas que deseo fotografiar algún día. Pero Bibiana no es un sueño, es un bonito regalo que el destino ha decidió poner en mi camino un día.
Bibiana es la chica más hermosa y sorprendente que he tenido la suerte de conocer últimamente. Para aquellos que no la conozcáis (estáis de broma???), no solo es la modelo #1 del fetish europeo, sino my querida y bella hermanita española. Guapa, preciosa, tatuada, sexy, salvaje, divertida y con un corazón que brilla de una forma un millón de veces más intensa que su cuerpo. Un auténtico ángel de la maldad.
Así que se merecía su lugar en WISHLYWOOD. Y no por el sueño de hacerle fotos, que ya es una realidad (las fotos muy prooooonto!), sino porque el auténtico sueño es tenerla a mi lado iluminando mi camino.

Ephemeral Beauty

‘Beauty is Ephemeral…‘. It vanishes and abandon us forever, sooner or later, only leaving memories which manage to stand oblivion sometimes.
January 3rd, 4th and 5th I was lucky to be part of an initiative carried away by Fotoforum Lumen about that concept. A gallery which sold 66 original works of art corresponding to 66 photographers from all over Spain for just 3 days.
Professional photographers, big names, amateurs… all of them selling anonymously a little piece of their art with the same price, on an equal basis.
No need to say the initiative was a huge success, but which will probably never happen again because Beauty is Ephemeral.
And now, from DEADLYWOOD, I show you my contribution… Taken in Coruña’s prison last year, a little piece of decadence, loneliness and BEAUTY.

«La Belleza es Efímera…». Tarde o temprano se desvanece y nos abandona dejando solo recuerdos que a veces consigue resistir al olvido.
Los días 3, 4 y 5 de Enero tuve la suerte de participar en una iniciativa organizada por el Fotoforum Lumen que giraba alrededor de esa idea. Una galería en la que durante 3 días se vendieron 66 obras de arte correspondientes a 66 fotógrafos de toda España. Fotógrafos profesionales, famosos, aficionados… todos de forma anónima y vendiendo al mismo precio un pedacito de su arte en igualdad de condiciones.
No es necesario decir que la iniciativa fue un éxito total, pero que como la Belleza es Efímera, probablemente no se repita.
A continuación y desde DEADLYWOOD os muestro cual era mi contribución… Tomada en la cárcel de Coruña el año pasado, un pedacito de decadencia, soledad y BELLEZA.

2013, A new year is here… so let´s start it , for a change, by posting something in WISHLYWOOD. I think it is a good chance to show you my cards so you can know the faces my photography is aiming at. And there would not be a BETTER way than talking about my sister MARTHYLUCK, or Martina as we call her at home.
Marthy is living in Prague actually and she has always been one of the kindest, loveliest, most beautiful, and CRAZIEST girls I have ever had in front of me. She has done everything in photography and she has been through many different changes of look, from being Czech Republic´s #1 Suicide Girl, to the cutest pin up ever… from a fatale goth to a classy elegant lady. You will probably have a crush on her when you see her pics and her amazing inked body, but if she´s GORGEOUS on the outside, her inside is one million times prettier. I really love you hermanita!
It´s been some time since we haven´t seen our faces… but we are meeting again very soon, so the dream is about to come true once again… so Martinita, are you ready to play the monkey with me as everytime we meet? LOL!
Marthy has worked with the best photographers, so she has millions of AMAZING shots, it´s been very difficult just to choose a few ones to show you, so I highly recommend you to visit her crazy website… MARTHYLAND.

2013, Un nuevo año está aquí… así que empezémoslo, para cambiar un poco, posteando algo en WISHLYWOOD. Creo que es una buena ocasión para mostraros mis cartas y que así podáis conocer las caras hacia las que apunta mi fotografía. Y no habría una forma MEJOR de empezar que hablando de mi hermana MARTHYLUCK, o Martina como la llamamos en casa.
Marthy vive en Praga a día de hoy y siempre ha sido una de las personas más amables, encantadoras, guapas y LOCAS que he tenido delante de mí. Lo ha hecho todo en fotografía y ha pasado por muchos cambios de look, de ser la Suicide Girl #1 de la República Checa a ser la pinup mas dulce… de ser una gótica fataaaaaal a la chica con más clase y elegancia. Probablemente os enamoréis de ella cuando veáis sus fotos y su cuerpo tatuado, pero si es TREMENDA por fuera, su interior es un millón de veces más bello. Te quiero mucho hermanita!
Ya hace algún tiempo que no nos vemos las caras… pero nos vamos a ver muy pronto, así que el sueño se volverá a hacer realidad una vez más… Martinita, estás preparada para hacer el mono conmigo como siempre que nos vemos? Ja ja ja!
Marthy ha trabajado con los mejores fotógrafos, así que tiene millones de fotografías BRUTALES. Ha sido muy difícil escoger unas poquitas para mostraros aquí, así que os recomiendo encarecidamente que visitéis su web... MARTHYLAND.
Y como premio extra… también podéis verla protagonizando el videoclip de Parov Sterlar´s ‘Nowhere’ . No es la más cosita más linda?

Lola, Lola, Lola, Lola… what can I say about her??? Mmmm… something like I looove you , I looooooove you , I looooooooooooove you, I looooooooooooooove you, I looooooooooooooooooove you!!!!
Lola is a very special girl for me for many reasons, too many that I could make an endless list… but the most important one, the one which touched me the most, was that this cute walking tattoo came from Albacete to shoot with me. But it was not only that, also her character, her illusion, the same music we like, her sense of humour… she´s a real LOVE.
Lola is the “pretty version” of another model I had known for many years, but who never had any interest of shooting with me because she thought she was too ‘famous’ (I´ll avoid to give her name because she´s not worth and I can´t remember it now, LOL!). I found Lola in internet one day, I saw her pics and it was love at first sight. I sent her an emai with a proposal to work together and it didn´t took very long for us to arrange a photographic date.
For those of you who are not that lucky to meet her, I will tell you she is a real defender of the animals and their rights, something else we have in common, but she is muuuuuuuuuuch more than me, infinitely more. All this is related to the fact she was really enthusiastic about shooting with snakes (in general, with any type of animal) so there was Álex to shoot her with eeeeeeevil reptiles…
It was a studio session, and we did a little bit of everything: fashion, something a little bit sexier, and many pics with birds, rabbits but especially with snakes. And of course, without forgetting to focus all the protagonism on her fantastic tattooes. Honestly, it is a real pleasure to work with someone whose look, ink and personality eat the camera. Success guaranteed. Every pic I see leaves me breathless.
DEADLYWOOD´s pic is one of the many we took that day, and I like it especially because it gives a good perspective of what Lola is: beauty, seduction, a body from outer space and tattooes. She sent some of those pics (or at least she had thought of sending them) to several specialized magazines but, sincerely, I don´t know if we haven´t been lucky enough or if my loved “Puro Veneno” is a disaster and has forgotten to forward them. I kiiiiiiiiiiiiiill you, LOL!!!
The processing of the pic, well, it is an studio shot… and in general, I usually find those ´monochromatic´ backgrouds kinda ´boring´. Not maybe for one, two , three pictures… but when you take too many pics… well, no… So I always end up getting the pics ‘dirty’ with textures. In this case, the main idea was to focus the attention on the snake and the tattooes. As it´s typical of me, I didn´t touch Lola at all, not only because of my photographic principles, but also she is perfect enough to live without our friend Mr.Photoshop.
Lola… get ready … don´t forget to tell our friend Julio Alberto, that we will rock together again. I need to take some pics to the new ink on your skin and to keep laughing my ass of with you!. As said, you are a real love, love you a looooooooooooot…

Lola, Lola, Lola, Lola… qué puedo decir de ella??? Pues algo asi como te quieeeeeeeeero, te quieeeeeeeeeeeeeero , te quieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeero, ailoooooviu , ailooooooooooooooooooooooviu, ailooooooooooooooooooooooviu, ailooooooooooooooooooooooviu!!!
Lola es una niña muy especial para mí, por muchas cosas, tantas que podría dar una lista interminable… aunque la principal, la que más me tocó, fue que este encanto de tatuaje andante se viniese desde Albacete a hacer fotos conmigo. Pero ya no fue solo eso, sino también su carácter, su ilusión, la afinidad musical, sentido del humor… es un auténtico AMOR.
Lola es la “versión guapa” de otra modelo que conocía desde hace tiempo, pero que dada su «fama» nunca tuvo demasiado interés en hacer fotos conmigo (evitaré dar el nombre para no se tenga que utilizar el teléfono de aludidos). De repente un día me encontré a Lola en una página de internet (la versión guapa!!!!), la vi, y fue un auténtico flechazo. Le mandé un correo proponiendo hacer algo juntos y no tardamos nada en planear nuestra cita fotográfica.
Para aquellos que no tenéis la suerte de conocerla, os contaré que es una defensora acérrima de los animales y sus derechos, otro punto que tenemos en común, aunque ella muchiiiiiiisimo más, infinitamente más. Todo esto viene a cuento porque a ella le apasionaba hacer fotos con serpientes (en general con cualquier tipo de animal…) , y ahí estaba Álex para retratarla con reptiiiiiiiiles maleeeeeficos…
La sesión se desarrolló totalmente en estudio, hicimos un poco de todo: moda, algo un poco más sugerente, y fotos con conejos, pájaros y sobre todo serpientes.. Y como no, sin olvidarme de dar protagonismo a sus fantásticos tatuajes. Desde luego es una auténtica suerte poder trabajar con ella porque tanto su imagen, como su tinta y su personalidad se comen a la cámara. Éxito seguro. Cada foto que veo de ella me deja sin aliento.
La foto de DEADLYWOOD que hoy nos ocupa, es una de las muchas que hicimos y que me gusta especialmente porque da una buena perspectiva de lo que es Lola: belleza, sugerencia, cuerpazo y tatuajes. Parte de esta serie la envió ella (o al menos iba a hacerlo …) a varias publicaciones del mundillo, aunque sinceramente, a día de hoy no sé si es que no hemos tenido suerte o que mi quedísima “Puro Veneno” es un desastre y aun no las ha mandado. Te maaaaaato, ja, ja, ja!!!
En el campo del procesado, es una foto de estudio… y por lo general, ese tipo de fondos monocromáticos me resultan “aburridos”. Igual no para una foto o dos, o tres… pero cuando tienes una serie de muchiiiiiiisimas fotos, pues como que no… al final acabo “ensuciando” todo un poco con texturas. En este caso, la idea era como no, resaltar la serpiente y los tatuajes. A Lola, como es habitual en mi, no hubo que tocarla en nada… no solo por mis principios fotográficos, sino porque es lo suficientemente perfecta como para vivir sin el amigo photoshop.
Lola… prepárate… ve avisando a nuestro amigo Julio Alberto, la tendremos que liar otra vez. Necesito fotografiar las nuevas adquisiciones de tu piel y seguir echándome más risas contigo! Lo dicho, eres un amor, te quiero muchiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisimo.

The picture I am about to comment today is the ‘oldest’ in DEADLYWOOD and it comes straight from my second photo shoot ever, which I am very fond of. It was my first photo shoot in Spain after my debut in Athens, and I remember I worked without any equipment. I just had got my camera with a standard lens (I thought it was really cool – now I can see how crappy it was), I didn´t have any speedlite or reflectors, absolutely nothing… Only had I got my one and only model Merce and a location which had been attracting me for many years: the Bailly Houses.
For all of you who haven´t heard about them, I recommend you to ‘google’ them; they are two houses located at O Graxal, in the entrance of Coruña and with a fascinating story. First time I saw those houses was 25 years ago or so coming back from Coruña in my parent´s 1430… I immediately had a crush on them. Many years later I started to look for information, to investigate, to compilate any sort of material related to them and to even talk to people who had been lliving there during their golden years. Today they can only bring you sadness, having become a place where teenagers go to get drunk, a location for those who look for “goth pics” or even for people who try to be original and have their wedding album made there. Terribly sad. Too much. As much as watching they die.
The more striking thing I can tell you about this photo shoot is that it almost doesn´t happen… Even though Merce had a brand new dress, even though I was looking forward to taking her some pics, even though the location was my beloved temple… the day before, and after our early departure from the ‘Carneiro Rock Festival’ with no chance of seeing my adored friends ‘The Mirage’, I became a little bit angry. Well, not a little really… TOTALLY angry, LOL!. I had decided to cancel the shoot, but Merce asked me in the last minute if we were doing something together, and I reluctantly said yes. I didn´t have probably anything better to do… so we headed for the adventure in Coruña.
We got there early in the afternoon, and we departed late in the evening when we barely had any light to continue working. I took hundred of pics, and everytime I see them I think they are pretty good. For sure, they deserve a better processing, but it was the best I could do at the moment. In fact, and I know it is going to sound very presumptuous, the most beautiful pics I´ve seen taken at the Casas Bailly are the ones I took Merce. And I can swear I´ve seen maaaaaaaaaaaany pictures taken in the most photographed Coruña´s houses.
We shot everywhere and in every possible way and pose, so we took some with Merce sit on the ground under a skylight (that 3 years later doesn´t exist anymore), barefoot, and showing the beauty of her dress (one of the most beautiful I´ve ever seen). And as usual… if you pay attention to the pic, is shot from above, which means (because it can´t be seen on the picture) that Álex was standing on the balcony, about a few meters height… ten or twelve maybe?. So you can see my love for risk comes already from the first sessions, or maybe from even before. That set of pictures and adventures, is where today´s DEADLYWOOD´s pic emerged from.
Regarding to the processing, you are lucky today… because I can´t say “there is barely any retouch”. My intention was from the beginning to recreate the aspect of an old picture, but without falling into the same old boring sepia tone, so I had to weather the whole scene, to add some textures, to prevent Merce´s dress and hair didn´t become a black stain… and the most interesting thing of the process: to vanish some stones close to Merce´s head which distracted the beholder´s attention too much from her.
Not a lot more… this is one of the pics which people usually like the most, and I am very happy about it since this shoot couldn´t have been missed, because of how special that place is for me. It is my humble tribute to those houses terribly mistreated by history, institutions, time and photography… I hope to have taken a pic which people loved, and what´s more important for me, that Merce has liked it.

La foto que hoy os voy a comentar es la foto más “antigua” de DEADLYWOOD y corresponde a mi segunda sesión de fotos, a la cual le tengo bastante cariño. Era mi primera sesión en España tras mi debut en Atenas, y recuerdo que la hice sin ningún tipo de equipo. Tenía mi cámara con el objetivo que me había traído (antes lo veía maravilloso – ahora comprendo lo patatero que era), no tenía ni flash, ni reflectores, ni nada… solo a mi primera (y única) modelo Merce y un lugar que me había atraído desde hacía muchos años: las Casas Bailly.
Para todos aquellos que no las conozcáis o no hayáis oído hablar de ellas, os recomiendo que las “googleeis” porque son unas casas situadas en O Graxal, a la entrada de Coruña y con una historia fascinante. La primera vez que vi esas casas, fue hace unos 25 años a la vuelta de un viaje a Coruña en el 1430 de mis padres… Me quedé enamorado de ellas de inmediato. Muchos años después empecé a buscar información, investigar, buscar todo tipo de material relacionado con ellas e incluso a hablar con gente que había vivido allí en sus tiempos de gloria. A día de hoy dan demasiada penita, se han deteriorado muchísimo en los últimos años y se han convertido en pasto de muchachada que va a hacer el botellón, gente que quiere “fotos góticas” o incluso hasta de gente que intenta ser original y se va a hacer su álbum de boda allí. Muy triste. Demasiado. Tanto como verlas morir.
De lo más llamativo que os puedo contar es que esta sesión casi no tiene lugar. Aunque Merce tenía vestido nuevo, yo muchísimas ganas de hacerle fotos, una localización que era el templo de mis amores… el día anterior y tras nuestra marcha anticipada del Carneiro Rock, sin tiempo a ver a mis adorados “The Mirage”, hizo que hubiese amago de enfado por mi parte. Bueno, amago no… enfado TOTAL, ja, ja, ja. Yo había pensado en cancelar la sesión, pero a última hora Merce me preguntó si íbamos a hacer algo, y yo un poco a regañadientes dije que sí. Seguramente porque no había nada mejor que hacer… así que rumbo a Coruña a la aventura.
Llegamos allí a primera hora de la tarde, y nos marchamos a última cuando ya no había luz para seguir trabajando. Hicimos cientos de fotos, que viéndolas hoy en día me parecen muy buenas. Muy probablemente se merezcan un procesado mejor, pero en aquellos tiempos era todo lo que sabía hacer. De hecho y sé que puede sonar muy presuntuoso, las fotos más bonitas que he visto en las Casas Bailly, son las que yo le hice a Merce. Y os puedo asegurar que he visto muuuuuuuuuchas fotos en las casas más fotografiadas de Coruña.
Como hicimos fotos en todas partes y de todas las formas y posturas posibles, tocó hacer unas cuantas con Merce sentada en el suelo bajo un lucernario (que tres años después ya no existe), descalza y luciendo el vestido (uno de los más bonitos que he visto nunca) en todo su esplendor. Y como no… si os fijáis esa foto está hecha desde arriba, lo cual quiere decir (pooooooorque no se ve en la foto) que Álex estaba subido al balcón exterior de la casa, a unos cuantos metros de altura… unos diez o doce tal vez? Así que ya veis que mi afición por el riesgo ya viene desde las primeras sesiones, o incluso desde mucho antes. De esa serie y de esas aventuras salió la foto que hoy os comento desde DEADLYWOOD.
A nivel de procesado, hoy tenéis suerte… porque hoy no puedo decir “apenas tiene retoque”. Desde un principio quise dar la impresión de foto antigua, pero sin llegar al típico y aburrido sepia, así que tocó envejecer todo, aplicar texturas, tratar que el vestido y el cabello de Merce no se convirtiesen en unos manchurrones, y lo más llamativo tal vez de todo: hacer desaparecer unas piedras cercanas a la cabeza de Merce, que desviaban bastante la atención de ella.
Y poco más … esta es una de las fotos que por lo general más gusta a la gente y me alegro porque esta sesión que no podía faltar por ser tan entrañable para mi. Es mi humilde homenaje a unas casas tremendamente maltratadas por la historia, las instituciones, el tiempo y la fotografía… espero haber hecho una foto que haya gustado y sobre todo y lo más importante, que le haya gustado a Merce.
Muchísimas gracias Mer, por ayudarme cuando más falta me hacía y por haber contribuido con tu imagen y amistad, no solo a estas fotos, sino a muchas aventuras de la maldad.
