It is time to knock on the door of the girl who was my photographic partner for so long in DEADLYWOOD today: Silvia.

As I told you when I talked about it, I had absolutely clear which one should be her first pic to be featured in DEADLYWOOD, but it was not that easy that for the second. The main “problem” was that Silvia and I used to work a lot together when we got bored or we didn’t have any other better thing to do than evil photographic things, what got translated into hundreds and hundreds of pictures… and to my torture and satisfaction: she was PRETTY in ALL of them. It was very difficult to choose between so many pics, nice moments, outfits, laughs, falls, monkey behaviors… because every single one brought very nice memories to my mind and also because she looked really stunning. There is so much stuff it would even be possible to make an exhibition just with it.

The pic I am about to talk to you today was taken in a very seeeeeeeeeeecret place we have in Santiago where we can work with nobody around disturbing. Silvia is too shy and she doesn’t feel very comfortable in front of curious eyes asking: “is this for a movie? “when can this be watched?”, “who is the girl, is she famous?” So, we always try to avoid that, with Silvia or with any other girl. I’ve always thought that the pillars of a good picture are the model’s trust and tranquility.

That afternoon began as many others having lunch at McDonalds…  Later we decided to get armed with all our stuff in order to shoot for the first time some nice outfits which the little blonde had purchased. The photo shoot was much sexier than you see in this pic, there was time for Playboy outfits, lingerie and more stuff not suitable for weak hearts. After several hours and before dawn I wanted to shoot something sweeter, princess style… Taking advantage of the many leaves on the ground (quite strange because it wasn’t even autumn…) I came with the idea of Silvia laying among them.  We took many pics in many different ways – all quite nice, I must say – and everything was so ok I continued shooting and shooting… while poor Silvia was getting frozen and frozen, turning to blue… Night came at last, we could barely see and Silvia had already her “ice cube” mode ON; it was then when I felt guilty enough and we stopped. What’s the story? I know I am evil, but not too much… no model has died frozen in my shoots yet!.

We quickly put Silvia some clothes on, picked all our stuff and began to see the pics we had got. When we saw the stuff we realized that little torture had been definitely worth.

To add something funny, not only Silvia had a hard time that day… In fact she laughed her ass off when a stone muuuuuuch bigger than me smashed my forefinger while I was looking for the trigger of my flash shooter which I had lost while jumping from rock to rock. And out of my 10 fingers, I murdered the one I use to press the shooter… it turned completely black in just 3 seconds. My nail was really “pretty” for a few months. More than half of the pics that afternoon were taking by a big black painful finger.

Talking about the way which I processed the pic in, what I did was to re-illuminate the scene a little bit, because it was too late when I took it and it was kinda dark for the idea I had in mind. Smooth skin softening and we already have the sweetest version of this girl. Doesn’t she look like a princess? That is exactly what I was looking for: show everybody this tiny swede’s sweetest side.

Hoy en DEADLYWOOD toca llamar de nuevo a la puerta de la que durante tanto tiempo fue mi compañera de aventuras y desventuras fotográficas: Silvia.

Como ya os comenté en su día cuando hablé de lo claro que lo tenía para la primera foto elegida para DEADLYWOOD, para esta segunda la elección fue mucho más complicada. El gran “problema” es que Silvia y yo trabajabamos muchísimo juntos, cuando nos aburriamos o no teniamos nada mejor que hacer que maldades fotográficas, lo que se traduce en cientos y cientos de fotos… y para mi tortura y satisfacción: en TODAS sale PRECIOSA. Fue muy difícil escoger entre tantas tomas, momentos, estilismos, risas, caídas, monerías… porque cada una de ellas me trae muy buenos recuerdos y en todas sale incredible. Hay tanto material que  podría hacer una exposición solo con material suyo…

La foto de la que os voy a hablar se tomó en un sitio secreeeeeeeto del que disponemos en Santiago para ponernos a trabajar sin que nadie nos moleste. Silvi es bastante tímida, y no se siente demasiado cómoda ante los ojos de curiosos que preguntan “esto es para una película?”, “cuándo sale esto?”, “quién es la chica, es famosa?” Bueno, pues siempre que podemos evitarlo, ya sea con Silvia o con cualquier otra de mis niñas, lo evitamos. Siempre he pensado que la base de una buena fotografía es la tranquilidad de la modelo y su confianza.

Esa tarde comenzó como muchas otras, alimentándonos en el McDonalds…  Después decidimos  armarnos con todo nuestro material para estrenar una ropita nueva con la que se había hecho la rubia. En realidad la sesión fue bastante más sexy de lo que veis, ya que hubo momento de conjuntitos tipo playboy, lencería y otras cosas no aptas para corazones débiles. Después de varias horas y antes de que anocheciese yo quería hacer algo más tierno, de princesa… aprovechando que había un montón de hojas en el suelo (muy raro porque no era ni otoño…) se me ocurrió que Silvia se acostase en el medio de ellas.  La verdad es que hicimos muchísimas fotos en distintas posturas – todas preciosas he de decir –  y la cosa estaba marchando tan bien que seguí disparando y disparando… mientras la pobre Silvia se me iba congelando y congelando, y cambiando hacia un color más azulado… La noche se nos echó encima, apenas se veía ya, y Silvia ya estaba en modo “cubito de hielo”, entonces fue cuando me dio la suficiente pena y paramos. Qué se le va a hacer? Sé que soy malo, pero no tanto, eh… de momento no se me ha muerto ninguna modelo por congelación!.

Abrigamos a Silvia rápidamente, recogimos a toda prisa y nos pusimos a ver el material que habíamos conseguido. Cuando vimos las fotos nos dimos cuenta que esa pequeña tortura había merecido la pena.

A nivel anecdótico, no solo Silvia lo pasó mal ese día… En el fondo se rió muchísimo cuando una piedra muuuuuucho más grande que yo me aplastó un dedo al buscar el disparador del flash que,  por andar de saltimbanqui, había perdido en alguna parte. Aun encima de los diez dedos, me fui a cargar el de disparar… que en 3 segundos se puso más negro que una morcilla. Anduve con la uña “linda” unos cuantos meses Más de la mitad de las fotos de esa tarde fueron tomadas con el dedo chorizo totalmente insensible.

En el aspecto procesado, lo que hice fue reiluminar un poco la escena, ya se había hecho demasiado tarde y la foto era un tanto oscura para la imagen que tenía en mente. Luego, un ligero suavizado y ya tenemos a la versión más dulce de esta niña. A que parece una princesa? Pues eso es lo que yo buscaba: enseñar a todo el mundo el lado mas dulce de esta pequeña sueca.
