Our daily walk through DEADLYWOOD‘s beauties leds us to find out a little bit more about the endless charm of other of the girls I feel more sympathy for: Vane Cabaleiro.
Vane is a pretty special tiny girl. In my opinion, the most beautiful and with better taste tattooed one of all I’ve seen in Galicia. She knows, in fact, I’m crazy in love with her arm, I will steal it from her someday!. A precious woman, with a heart of gold and a personality quite similar to mine, which has probably made the bound between us so strong and we know how understand each other in such a perfect way.
However, not always were things with Vane that easy. I discovered her a few years ago in a picture of a good photographer and colleague named David DMD… in one of his series where she was dressed like a little princess, and where all my attention was focused on some stars she had tattooed and she wore in a very spectacular way. That’s where we first got in touch, but not very successful… Too much character and a very limited interest in me made of Vane other contact “more” in my facebook. Time went by and Vane‘s tattoos grew up, same as my interest and stubbornness, so we decided to give us the chance of knowing each other and of finding out that besides of being quite similar, we pursued very similar interests too.
After a period of time when she had stopped being taken pictures, Vane decided to come back to the photographic scene with me. So, suddenly and in just one day, we arranged something, she came from Vigo to Sillobre and since she was so very excited, she made the effort of coming to me and our strong friendship, I had to take her to a very special place to do something very special.
I chose to shoot her in a place called “pozo negro” a paradisiac location in the Belelle River, quite close to the place I live and thanks God, not very crowded or used for photographic purposes yet. Funny things began from the very first moment when “Vaneimdiviiiiiiiiiiiiiiine» appeared wearing super high-heeled shoes (just to be taller than me! – I’m sure) and we had to start descending. For all the people who don’t know the place, the slope is pretty high, no path does exist, and the most usual it is to fall down even with adequate shoes. A real odyssey… so the lady had finally to surrender and to descend barefoot. Monkey you!
Once there, and even though one of my ideas was to get Vane into the water, we both realized she was going to die frozen, so we thought of other alternatives taking advantage the magic of the place. An anecdote of that afternoon, of the many they were, happened when I, jumping from rock to rock in the middle of the lake in order to take a picture of her lying on a tree trunk, slid and in order to avoid falling into the water with my camera, I held it as tight as I could and destroyed a couple of ribs by falling on a rock without being able to use them to stop the hit . Vane ‘s face was EPIC… but I stood as I could and I took the picture, LOL!.
And as the pain was not strong (at first) we still had time to keep on shooting the rest of the afternoon, first leaving that place (which was not easy at all), going down to a big waterfall, climbing it in order to take more pics… and even finishing with me losing one of my sport shoes (which meant going back home walking a few kilometers walking barefoot, in the most absolute darkness – it had become too late – so nice I know the way back pretty well and we were armed with a cell phone whose battery was abput to run out… ) but I luckily found my sport shoe before the current had dragged it!. Bizarre things always happen to me…
Regarding the processing of the pic, this one was accused many times of being a complete photoshop manipulation. Basically, Vane and I were told something like “what a crappy retouch… we can notice you had sticked that background there!!!”. Well… here’s the proof they were right, LOL!. You can look for the differences, but I can already tell you the only thing I did was to give a greater role to Vane‘s tattoo by making its color more alive. For the rest: Vane exists… also that place and if you can shoot you don’t have the need of cheating people with photoshop.
From DEADLYWOOD not much more today. Only to thank a million times Vane for her trust, friendship and big heart.… You are incredible and you’ll always be my inked one with such a beautiful tattoed arm. We’ll show more evil works together very soon, ok? We have many nice and good things to show…

Hoy en nuestro recorrido diario por las bellezas de DEADLYWOOD toca detenernos a conocer un poco más del encanto de otra de las niñas a las que más cariño le tengo: Vane Cabaleiro.
Vane es una personita súper especial. Para mi opinión, la tatuada más bonita y con más gusto y estilo de todas las que he visto por Galicia. De hecho, ella sabe que estoy absolutamente enamorado de su brazo, cualquier día se lo robo!. Una niña preciosa, con un corazón de oro y con una personalidad muy parecida a la mía, lo que tal vez haya hecho que el vínculo entre nosotros sea tan fuerte y nos sepamos entender tan bien.
Pero las cosas con Vane no siempre fueron así de fáciles. La descubrí hace un par de años en las fotos de un buen fotógrafo y compañero como es David DMD… en una serie en la que iba vestida como una princesita, donde lo que más me llamó la atención fueron unas estrellas tatuadas que lucía de forma espectacular. Ahí empezaron los primeros contactos, aunque sin demasiado éxito… Demasiado carácter y un interés muy limitado hicieron que Vane pasase a ser otro contacto “más” de mi facebook. Pero con el tiempo los tatuajes de Vane fueron “reproduciéndose” y mi interés y cabezonería mayores, hasta que al final nos dimos la oportunidad de ir conociéndonos y descubrir que además de ser muy parecidos, perseguíamos intereses bastantes similares.
Después de un parón fotográfico, Vane decidió en su retorno al mundo de las cámaras contar conmigo. Casi de un día para otro organizamos algo, se vino de Vigo hasta Sillobre y dada las ganas que tenía, el esfuerzo en plantarse aquí y el cariño que le tengo, había que llevarla a un sitio especial, para hacer algo especial.
Opté por llevarla al llamado “pozo negro” un lugar paradisíaco del cauce del Río Belelle y gracias a Dios, no demasiado transitado ni explotado fotográficamente. Las anécdotas comenzaron desde el primer momento de la tarde, cuando “Vanedivinadelamuerte” se presentó con unas megacuñas (solo para ser más alta que yo – estoy seguro) y tuvimos que empezar el “descenso” a dicho lugar. Para quien no conozca el sitio, aclararé que la “bajada” por llamarle algo, tiene una pendiente súper pronunciada, el camino es inexistente, y lo más normal, aun calzado “comodiosmanda” es caerse. Toda una odisea, para la cual al final la señorita tuvo que rendirse y bajar descalza, ja ja ja. Serás mona!
Una vez allí, y aunque una de las ideas era meter a Vane en el agua, pensamos que se podría quedar congeladita, con lo cual optamos por otras alternativas aprovechando un poco lo mágico del paraje. Una de las anécdotas de esa tarde, de las muchísimas que hubo, sucedió cuando ya saltando de piedra en piedra en medio del agua, para sacarle una foto tumbada sobre un tronco, resbalé y para evitar caerme al agua cámara en mano, la agarré con todas mis fuerzas y destrocé un par de costillas al caerme sobre la roca. La cara de Vane fue un auténtico poema… pero yo me incorporé como pude e hicimos la foto, ja ja ja.
Como en caliente no me dolía demasiado aun tuvimos tiempo para continuar el resto de la tarde haciendo fotos, primero saliendo de allí, que también costó, bajando a la fervenza, escalándola para hacer más fotos… e incluso terminando conmigo perdiendo una de mis deportivas (lo que significaba volver a casa caminando unos cuantos km descalzo de un pie, sumidos en la más absoluta oscuridad, porque a esas horas la noche ya se nos había echado encima – suerte que conozco bien el camino y que íbamos armados con un móvil a punto de agotarse la batería… ) aunque después de unos minutos la localicé antes de que se la llevase el río! Lo que no me pase a mí…
Hablando del procesado, esta foto fue acusada más de una vez de ser una manipulación total de photoshop. Básicamente a Vane y a mí nos dijeron algo así como “vaya retoque más cutre… no se nota ni nada ese fondo pegado”. Bueno… aquí está la prueba de que así fue, ja, ja, ja. Podéis jugar a buscar las diferencias pero ya os digo yo que lo único que hice fue darle un poco más de protagonismo al tatuaje de Vane y hacer que los colores tuviesen más vida. Del resto nada más: Vane existe… ese lugar también… y si se hace una foto en condiciones no se necesita engañar a la gente con montajes.
Desde DEADLYWOOD poco más por hoy. Solamente agradecer un millón de veces a Vane toda su confianza, amistad y gran corazón… Eres un cielo y para mí siempre serás la número uno de la tinta con ese brazo tan precioso. Pronto más de las maldades que hemos hecho juntos, vale? Que tenemos muchas cosas, y buenas que enseñar
